Live "your" life

We often say we enjoy our life and we are happy for the way life leads us. But deep inside the heart, there are small questions that nag us every time. Is this really that you wanted to be? Is this the thing that you wanted to do in life?

During our younger days, most of our decisions are influenced by our parents, friends or other external forces. It may sound safe or promising at that moment but years later, the heart will yearn that you could’ve done something different in the past, if you had taken your own decision.

This is where passion steps in. We tend to develop our long overdue desires into a passion. Had we done that before, it could’ve given a great livelihood and fame (not to forget happiness and satisfaction) but time play a spoilsport and rule over the heart. And we may not have been in a position to take decisions on our own because of the age factor.

But after grown up, never miss an opportunity to do what you like. Your heart will lead you to new explorations and ideas. Just have some ears on it and move on in that direction. Who knows, you may be lucky enough to discover a new paradise in life.

Never get influenced by others when it comes to life. They have no say on how you should be or what you should be doing. Also never live a life for other’s sake and compromise your desires. It will be like letting yourself out of you to satisfy others. It may please the other person for a brief period but it will definitely hurt you at some point of time. Life is just too precious to be wasted!

I can so relate to this post. Because of my mom, I acquired multiple degrees, did fairly well, rank holder on All India basis in professional examinations. But, I always wanted to write and thankfully I'm married to a man to told me to follow my heart. Now, I'm living every moment. Life is very precious. Do it before its too late. Great post yet again...

This is something which boosted up my sense of freedom of choice and living my own life...it is said that from the very small age itself I was really stubborn in my own choices(not harmfully) and I hated following the crowed and acting according to people's expectation. And when I took literature for higher studies there were a huge oppositions but I was damn sure that this is where my true interest lies...and there are lot many people who just "exist" and not really "live" because of their lack of freedom of choice. In childhood and in immature age it's OK...but just as you said "but after grown up, never miss an opportunity to do what you like"!

Great thinking Anand and highly inspiring! And what you said on the concluding para is a painful truth which we are often not even ready to accept because of the sheer fear of pain and isolation;)

Hence, I'm taking AB Fine Arts. Everything may be hard at first, but only the persevering survives.

I like a lot of things.. I am yet to decide what I am passionate about. But, I enjoy what I do at that moment. That is how I find happiness.

But yes, I should really ponder on my passion.....

@Saru Singhal: Thanks a lot... Yeah, I was guessing that you must be great in academics... Congo on the rank achievement... Happy to know your life partner supports you to follow your heart. :)

Yes, life is indeed very precious and do it before its too late. well said. I have one more perspective to it. Its never too late to do anything new... Just go for it! :)

@Nasnin Nasser: Great to know that you always had your own choices during the early days. It happens to very few people and very few of them have a good choice :)

I can share a similar experience of yours when I decided to do my management in PG and had oppositions from the family. But I decided to proceed and did it! :) :)

You always draw a great inference from each post. Thanks a ton for the comment. Kudos on your decisions and never give up. :)

@Aasiyah: Well said Aasiyah. Only perseverance will survive. Thank you very much :)

@Sahana Rao: Yup, find that passion and develop on it. But don't let go the current state of happiness which you're enjoying. Thanks for the comment :)

This is such a great post and topic, Anand, once again!

As children we grow up always seeking our parent's approval and I think that's why it's natural for us to continue to do this as we become adults.

The same can be said about our parents, they always see us and continue to treat us as the tender infants they brought into this world. I really struggled with this a lot in my life and it's hard to make that 'break' but you have to do it for yourself!

It is no longer their lives and they need to respect our choices and support them. Of course, this is easier said than done ha ha! Yes, definitely live YOUR life indeed ~ follow your passions and dreams and even if you don't succeed, you won't have to live with the 'what ifs' for the remainder of your life.

Great to see how thought provoking this was for many ~ it definitely led to great discussions!

Awesome post ~ keep them coming! This is why you deserve so many awards. I was thrilled to be able to present you with one! :) :)

@Fiona: First of all, thanks again for the award and thank you very much for those sweet words. You indeed give lot of appreciation in your comments and that motivates me very much to go extra mile every time.

As you mentioned, yes it is easier said than done and don't regret for missing or not pursuing a particular action. Live it to the full extent :)

When we're young we generally want to pursue that which the world may throw at us, what may sound appealing from what XYZ said but ultimately its your life, your decision and if you fail, your repentance on a wrong decision! Well said. I do agree totally. Thanks for the comment and follow up ! I'm following you back in a while.
